Abstract

The electricity demand for life-support systems in aquariums, such as water pumps, heaters, and lighting, requires a stable and sustainable power supply. This study aims to design and develop a photovoltaic-based system as an alternative to conventional electricity from the state utility (PLN) for household-scale aquariums. The system is designed by integrating photovoltaic panels, a solar charge controller, an inverter, and a battery. The research stages include a literature review, power demand identification, system design, simulation, assembly, and performance testing. The test results show that the solar panel capacity combined with a battery is able to supply the aquarium load with reliable system efficiency. Furthermore, the utilization of photovoltaic energy has been proven to reduce dependency on PLN electricity and lower operational costs. Thus, the use of solar energy through photovoltaic technology is proven to be effective and sustainable in meeting the electricity needs of household aquariums.
